Man gets 15 years for 2014 rapes, said he and co-defendants thought “it would be a fun thing to do"

COLUMBUS (WCMH)–Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced Wednesday that a man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping two women in 2014.

Gerardo Hernandez-Carrera,20, was sentenced after pleading guilty to raping a woman on two separate occasions, on September 9 and September 22, 2014.

In the September 9 rape, O’Brien said, the victim was picked up in the area of Highland and Sullivant Avenue, was driven to a secluded area, and was then raped.  She escaped and flagged down a passerby for help.

In the September 22 attack, the victim was picked up in the area of Sullivant and Hague Avenues, was driven to a secluded area, and was beaten and raped.  A security guard patrolling a nearby apartment complex heard her pleas for help and directed law enforcement to the area for help.

Two of his co-defendants, Bogar Diaz, age 16 at the time, and David Pablo, age 17 at the time, have both been bound over to Common Pleas Court to be tried as adults.
