Man sentenced 25 years to life after accomplice dies during 2015 burglary

COLUMBUS (WCMH)–Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced Wednesday that a man will spend 25 year to life behind bars after a 2015 robbery that turned deadly.

Michael A. Long was previously found guilty of murder, 2 counts of felonious assault, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, kidnapping and attempted theft. He and Clement Cooper were allegedly burglarizing a home on Scales Drive in July 2015 when the residents came back from work. A witness told NBC4 at the time that six people were fighting in the stairwell and basement. Cooper was found dead in the home, and several of the residents were injured.

Because Long had a hand in the burglary, he was charged with Cooper’s murder.
